Fantastic!, Used this vacuum for the first time today.
I've seen the ads, heard the hype, and said yeah, yeah, yeah.
Guess what, everything is true.
We have 4 cats, so there is hair everywhere.
I swear that I could stand at the doorway, point the hose at the room, and suck up all the hair.
I have never experienced a vacuum with so much power.
Two swipes with the proper attachment, and presto, the hair is gone.
Bonus, it is relatively quiet.
And yes I will recommend this to anyone with pets.
Tough to transition to a canister from upright, We had an upright vacuum that did an OK job on rugs but a terrible job on wood floors. We transitioned from our upright to this canister. It does an AMAZING job on hard wood floors... but the very low pile rugs we have were a challenge for this vacuum. We have dogs, and the dog hair was a challenge.
If you can get past the suction being a problem, and you are accustomed to using an upright, do not transition to a canister. You will find its manuverability is limited. If you have furniture and walls, you will get stuck around the corners of everything; find yourself tugging trying to get the canister to follow you. You have to pull the canister up the stairs behind you, or carry it by handle up the stairs, which negates having a canister, no? You MUST vacuum in a forward motion, because vacuuming backward causes you to trip over the canister. The cord for this machine is TERRIBLE. You can only vacuum one to two rooms at a time because the cord length is so short. And my last complaint about this vacuum: To transition from floor to rug, you have to bend over and pull out a tab, then transition from rug to floor by bending over again and pulling out a tab, then back and forth and back and forth. I found this to be a poor design. About the only this I liked about this vacuum, aside from the hard wood floor cleaning, was that it gets under furniture much better than any upright ever could.
Too much for me, I did a lot of research before I decided the quality and reliability of a Dyson (for pets) was worth the expense (cheaper at Amazon!). Everything about the vacuum was just as advertised, unfortunately I overestimated the amount of power I needed. The Dyson absolutely never loses suction but I wish it were a little more adjustable. I live in a studio apartment with a large rug over a tiled floor. Without variable suction, this model is a lot of work to use. For my situation the smaller sweeper would have been a better choice.
good vacuum, I am pleased with this Dyson canister vacuum. I already have a Dyson Animal upright which is much superior but bulky and rough on my arthritic shoulder. I bought the new one based on my warranty experience for the older one. The canister is easy to use and manipulate and I love the way it gets up under furniture.
The Greatest Vacuum Ever!!, This truly is the best vacuum I have ever own. I love the canister, and that it can reach under the bed and couches.
an amazing product!!!, this is the best vacuum cleaner I've ever used, it is super strong ,quiet, very well built , good designed and superb
quality of all the plastic parts. the clear canister is so easy to clean, and the total experience is great.
Great Purchase, Most of the time a wife doesn't want a vacuum for Christmas.. However, my wife loves this Dyson!! Great canister vacuum with a lot of suction power...
Not worth $400, Works well but not well enough for a $400 vaccum.
It is excellent on hard wood floors and tialed floors though.
poor design for attachments, You pay extra for a DC23 animal because of the extra attachments. The machine does not have a place to store the extra attachments. This means they will get lost. Very bad design also for storage. The hose makes it almost impossible to store. If I had known about these problems I would not have purchased the dc23 animal. Not worth the price. Very disapointed. Would not buy another one.
Best Vacuum Ever, Not a big fan of household chores but this makes them go a lot quicker. This sets the standard for all other vacuums.
