Useless...., I bought this for cleaning my driveway and decks. We live in the Seattle area, so my biggest issue is pine needles. But it didn't work on either. The wheels are hard plastic and they just slide instead of spinning, and since spinning is what powers the brushes, they just didn't turn. Or one side would turn but not the other. I tried adjustments and lubrication, but eventually I gave up and took it to Goodwill.
Expensive Broom, This is just an expensive broom, but I love it. This is my third spin sweep. They don't last as long as I think they should, since I only use it when I cut the grass! Unfortunately, I have become hooked on this product from the first day I bought it at the local Hoover parts store. I highly recommend this product, even if it wears out far too soon.
OK but not the highest quality, I have to say, when I opened the box I was surprised by the size and quality of the sweeper. It is smaller than I envisioned and seems a bit flimsy and cheap. We bought it to sweep the tennis court instead of using a gas powered blower and it does an adequate job of picking up sand and debris. It's actually quite good at picking up leaves. It only works on a flat smooth surface, it doesn't work on our paving stones or decks. I hope it lasts because it doesn't seem tremendously durable.
Best sidewalk swipper, We use this unit all the time especially after cutting the lawn and on leaves in the fall. After a wind stoorm it will even pick up small twigs. one suggestion you need to learn how to use the unit - it it can be pushed back and forth you don't have to go just in a straight line.
Yes to Hoover sweeper, This sweeper is realaly good for the purpose intended. Easy to push, picks up the big stuff off of the
driveway.
Have a pretty large parking area and we drive across it with a JD Gator with cleats picking up mud from
point A to B. This cleans off the major dirt mud with little effort.
The slower picker upper, I was so excited to get this seeping helper. I found it tough to manuver and it tool many sweeps on the driveway to pick up sticks and leaves. A little disappointing. It is good for small amojnts of scatered debris but canot hold its own on bigger jobs.
Missing Parts, I bought the Hoover L1405 based on a recommendation of a close friend who bought one to sweep up the leaves and tree debree around his pool and patio deck. He demonstrated how easy it was to use. I liked what I saw so I placed an order with Amazon to buy one for our church. We have a lot of Oak trees on the church property and this looked like the ideal product to clean the leaves up. The sweeper arrived about a week after the order was placed. I was immediately disappointed to find that one of the handle extension bars was missing. Immediately called Hoover customer service and after long waits on hold talked with a customer service rep who ordered the replacement part. It arrived in about a week. I was excited that I was finally going to be able to use the machine. Oh well that was not to be. The locking pin was missing from the handle extension ----sooo I had to get back on the phone to customer service. Once again after long waits on hold I spoke with a customer service rep who was nice but was unable to help me and transferred me to Corporate Customer Service. At corporate level I was able to get locking pins ordered. They arrived in about a week and I was able to finally complete putting the sweeper together. I excitedly took the sweeper out side to use it and much to my dismay the sweeper didn't sweep. For some reason the brushes wouldn't turn. I checked everything and it seemed to be in order. Finally, I asked my friend to bring his over so we could compare the machines to determine what was wrong with the church's sweeper. Long story short, the factory had installed the wheels on the wrong sides. Once we moved the wheels to the opposite sides the sweeper worked as designed. Needless to say we had not expected to have all these difficulties. Now that the sweeper works as designed, we are happy with the purchase.
Hoover L1405 Spin Sweep, It picks up pretty well, but debris gets caught around the brushes in the front. When it needs to be emptied, there is always a mess in the front of it that gets all over the area you've just swept. The entire unit must be hoisted up to be emptied. You also need to walk forward slowly to pick up much. However, if I were to put lipstick on it, my husband would take it to dinner.
The best thing I ever used for my yard ., I would recommend the Hoover L1405 Spin Sweeper for anyone that wants to lessen the work I am 85 years old and I clean my walk and driveway with ease. I also get my exercise walking up and down my driveway when I am cleaning up the leaves and little twigs that falls from the trees. It is the best. I recommended it to my daughter and my son/daughter-in-law, and they both bought one and they use theirs all the time. I purchased my Hoover from Amazon, and the delivery was fast. I try to use Amazon every time I purchase something. Not only are they fast in delivery but their price is right.
If you have realistic expectations you will love this sweeper, Here's the deal- I bought this sweeper hoping it would do the job on my pool deck on a daily basis. It does, but...... (1) you can't neglect the job for days and days and hope it will pick up everything. That's not what it's designed for. It has a small collection compartment which fills up pretty quickly. (2) Don't use it when the leaves are really wet- you will be frustrated. If you keep thee 2 things in mind you will love this thing. It has solved my pool deck problem, since I use it every morning. If I'm away for a few days I'll need to go back to the big broom before returning to the Hoover. It is a great device, and I wouldn't give it up for anything.
